The Baliem Valley rises 1,200 and 1,800 meters above sea level. With no roads to the closest town, Wamena, the coffee must be carried by foot. Synthetic fertalizers and pesticides are completely unknown here, where a unique form of arabica grows under old growth tropical forests.

Panama Don Pepe Estate

This hundred-year old farm has a history of growing top quality coffee. Ideally located on the slopes of the Baru Volcano in Volcancito, Boquete, the rich soil and copious rainfall are a perfect recipe for coffee trees. This micro lot is exclusively made up of typica varietals.

India Arabidacool Estate

The 142-hectare Arabidacool Estate is located high in the Baba Budangiri mountain range. Coffee has been cultivated here since the 1600s, after a Muslim pilgrim brought the first seeds back from Yemen. The climate offers perfect growing conditions for finicky arabica trees.

Honduras Cangual

This coffee is grown on a family owned farm in the Cangual region of western Honduras. This lot includes both Catuai and Bourbon varietals. The small farm hires pickers from local communities and much of the processing is done right on the farm and by hand.

Ethiopia Limu Genet

This is a direct-trade coffee from the Burka Gudina farm, owned by Ibrahim Hussein. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Ibrahim began buying land and planting coffee trees in Limu Genet 11 years ago. Careful planning and the adoption of modern agricultural methods has yielded 150 hectares of coffee trees and jobs for scores of local farmhands.

Tanzania Ruvuma AA

This coffee is from the Ruvuma region, which is located at the southern tip of the country along the border of Mozambique. Coffee trees, mainly bourbon hybrids, grow in rows on steep hillsides in volcanic loam at altitudes of between 1,200 and 1,800 meters.

Reusable Nylon Filter for Hario V60 and Beyond

Manufactured for us, we find that these food-grade nylon cone filters allow more of the coffee oils to pass through to the cup while still filtering out any fine particles. We designed them for the Hario V60s, but they are cone shaped and can be used with several other hand-pour devices. The material is durable enough to last hundreds of use (though care should be taken to preserve the seams to extend the life of the filters).

This coffee comes from the small farms in the Kochere region, which borders Yirgacheffe and Southern Oromia. The beans are carefully washed and then dried in the sun at the local Nardos mill.

This coffee comes from a group of smallholder farms in the Guji subregion of Sidamo. Whole coffee cherries are carefully sun dried, allowing the fruit to slightly ferment. This adds a depth and complexity to this creamy cup of coffee.
